What do drones, elementary particles, air hockey, and the film industry have in common? At first glance, not much. But after giving it some thought, you may realize that, in fact, they do share a rather similar theme. Two words: Ubuntu Summit.
The second installment in the reboot series of the Ubuntu Summit will take place in the Latvian capital of Riga on November 3-5, in the Radisson-Blu Latvija hotel. Ubuntu Summit 2022, our first community event after a long pause, was a great success. Carrying with the momentum, we wanted to make this year’s conference even more ambitious, more fun, more engaging than what you experienced yesteryear. We have already told you why you should attend, and unveiled the event’s logo. Now, let’s talk a little bit more on what will happen at the summit in just under two weeks.
Technology, technology everywhere
There will be companies, there will be communities, small and large, professional or indie. People of all corners of the tech world will flock to Riga, to share their experiences and stories, to showcase their products and projects, or just mingle and partake in the energy of the Summit.
The conference will feature eight distinct tracks, from community to security via AI/ML (so hot right now) to serious IT infrastructure to serious desktop gaming. We want to engage everyone interested in open source, and give them a phenomenal tour of the wide spectrum of projects and ideas revolving around a shared enthusiasm and philosophy.

Technology is best enjoyed on a full stomach.

Indeed, software is only as good as the conference attendee’s basic needs. Without great accommodations, great atmosphere, and plentiful refreshments, no event can survive for long. We hope we will be able to cater to everyone’s desires. To top that, we also added entertainment. You will be able to showcase your skillz [sic] in a game of air hockey and mega Jenga. There will be robots, too!
Did someone say a party?
No one parties quite like people deeply invested in software, hardware and anything in between. Once the talks, the sessions, and the workshops are over, and the formal part of the Ubuntu Summit end, you will be able to unleash your inner Johnny Castle at the closing party, with yet more food, drinks, games, and other surprise delights to follow. There ought to be much rejoicing.

What do you say? See you in Riga?
‘Tis but a teaser of what will transpire at the Radisson-Blu hotel in Riga on November 3-5. We hope the second Ubuntu Summit will be a fun, engaging experience for everyone, both in person and remotely. And if you’re mulling whether to show up, we believe a resounding YES should be your final decision. It will be nerdy, it will be busy, and it will be jolly.
See you soon!
